Amethyst

Purple crystals are called amethysts and have been used for decoration since the Neolithic Age. In 3100 BC, Egypt made it into beads and amulets. Amethyst is the ninth gemstone on the breastplate of the High Priest of Israel, used in the Middle Ages to decorate crowns and bishop's rings, and also as a talisman for soldiers. In Greek mythology, the god of wine Bacchus originally attempted to have a tiger attack a girl named Amethyst. The goddess Diana turned it into a transparent stone (water) to save her. After reflection, Bacchus poured the wine onto the crystal and dyed it purple. From then on, this myth gave rise to the superstition that amethyst can prevent drunkenness. In addition, the Heron Allen amethyst ornament collected by the British Museum of Natural History has been a topic of constant discussion due to its ability to bring curses to those who possess it. In the 18th century, with the mining of mineral deposits in Brazil and the Ural Mountains, the supply of amethyst increased and prices fell.

The purple color of amethyst is the result of radiation on trace amounts of iron. As long as it is exposed to sunlight for a long time, it will be affected by ultraviolet radiation and fade. Amethyst crystals suitable for making gemstone raw stones usually grow like crystal holes in the gaps of rocks.
